Her Daily Bread

I don’t know if I should be grateful that Olive seems to have such simple taste in food.

All she wants is bread. All kinds, really. I’ve noted that she likes whole wheat toast, bagels, tortilla….english muffins are kind of “eh”.

I mean this kid can eat bread all day.

This was the day she got tired of waiting for me to rip up the bread into bite sized pieces for her. OKAY, DEMANDING.

This was the day she got tired of waiting for me to rip up the bread into bite sized pieces for her. OKAY, DEMANDING.

Obviously, I’m worried about her (lack of) balanced nutrition. She’ll eat fruit, sometimes a vegetable here and there…but she won’t eat meat. and since her recent rejection of all foods on a spoon, I’ve been wracking my brain about what to make her for her solid food meals. Yeah, she’s still mainly on formula for her main source of nutrition….but shouldn’t we be LIKING solid food by now? And oh boy, I’ve been creative. I’ve made her meatballs, meatloaf, omelets…….but I always get met with this:

"No, mom NO! I hate this meatloaf/meatball/not-bread! I'm a simple girl..........JUSTWANTBREAD!"

“No, mom NO! I hate this meatloaf/meatball/not-bread! I’m a simple girl……….JUSTWANTBREAD!”

I need this bread phase to end. I need her to like meat or something…..because now I’m eating all this secondhand reject meatloaf and meatballs and I just worked off this baby weight.

Thanks Olive.

No you’re right on time! Olive was totally only eating purees up till about 8 months. We let her try out finger foods at that time (puffs) and she loved it so much she started to reject the spoon all together. :/

My son was the same way with meats. I have found that if I cut some tofu into cubes then crush some graham crackers or the baby cookies and “dust” the tofu he loves it! I guess tofu doesn’t have much of a flavor, and just sort of absorbs the taste of the crackers. Great for meat substitutions!
